Denim

Description

Denim comes from the city of Nîmes, where Levi Strauss, a Bavarian emigrant living in San Francisco, ordered the canvas to make his famous jeans. Jacob Davis added the rivets to enhance the sturdiness of the pockets. At the time, jeans were mainly sold to miners and lumberjacks but quickly encountered great success.

Sensual in the 1960s, rock 'n' roll in the 1980s, and with denim now featured on a multitude of pieces making up our wardrobe, jeans have become one of the most accessible and iconic garments.

In terms of technique, denim is made using indigo warp threads woven with an ecru weft thread in a twill weave, creating its typical diagonal motif.

Care

The easiest option is to wash by machine at 30°C, turning the garment inside out to avoid contact with the machine's drum marking the fabric with less attractive lines. A delicate programme is recommended and, if possible, no spin cycle.

As for ironing, it must be minimal or completely avoided.

At Balibaris, denim adapts and follows the movements of the wearer and their style whims.
